| The Georgians |
|
The Georgians is the name of the association of former members of the College. From its beginning in 1938, the Association has moved to form a constitution and to have representation on the College Council. A War Memorial Squash Court was opened in 1959 as a gift of The Georgians to the College in remembrance of those who fought and lost their lives in World War Two. Recently the site of the Squash Court has been redeveloped by the College to build the Memorial Wing, a new residential wing for students from 2007 onwards. The Association has funded the refurbishing of the Junior Common Room, and has established the Georgian Room. The Georgian Room provides a second dining room and meeting room for the College. The Georgians provide a "people" resource. Present students have access to a great range of people in all professions. This is of immeasurable value to students who wish to access this resource for their own benefit. The Association holds functions such as an annual cocktail party, dinner and B.B.Q.'s. The primary role of the information in these pages is to enable easy contact between Past Residents and St George's College.
