Going to university for the first time can be both exciting and challenging. It may even be the first time you have left home for more than a week or so. The College, in conjunction with the University's Student Services, works hard to cater for the needs of the whole student. There is general counselling available plus a careers centre, a learning skills centre, support for students with disabilities and medical conditions and much more. Within St George's College both Chaplain and tutors will do all they can to help and support you. The Warden's door is always open to students who need to speak to him.

Study Groups

Throughout the year there will be opportunities to join study groups, if you wish to do so. Students and tutors usually run these, their dates and times will be found in the Almanak.

Safety and Security at the College

We are continually upgrading our security with added lighting, security grills and safety talks to students. There has not been an incident at this College for many years and we want to keep it that way. If you ever feel concerned about your safety you can always ring the Duty Tutor, Sub Warden or Warden.

Administration

Each tutor is allotted evening duties on weekdays and weekend duties. During these times they are the Duty Tutor responsible for the good order of the College. Tutor's evening times run from 6:00pm until 8:00am the following morning. When on duty during the day on weekends and public holidays when the College Office is closed, their duty period is from 8:00am until 6:00pm.

The Duty Tutor's name, extension number and room number is displayed on the "TUTOR" board inside the door leading to the office. In the first instance, students should call the Duty Tutor in the case of any emergency.

The tutor on duty will remain on the College campus during their rostered duty period and will check that security gates remain locked and that common areas are locked at around 11:00pm.
