St. George's College Why St. George's College

The reasons for students considering life at a college such as St George's are many and varied, but college life is not the only option, nor is it for everyone. For example you may have friends you can rent with or you might consider boarding with a family living close by.

Take your time and consider all your options carefully, ask others how their decisions have helped or hindered their time at University. If college life is the best option for you, there are some points you might like to consider. Most students assume that finding out about a college begins by speaking to your counsellor, reading guidebooks, searching the web or going to a college or university open day. All of these activities can be very important to your college search, but the best place to begin with is you. Jot down your own personal inventory of likes and dislikes.

What are the most important considerations for you in selecting a college? Here are some of the factors you might want to consider:

  • Co-educational or single sex college. (UWA has four co-educational and one women's college)
  • Location of the college in regard to the university and other facilities.
  • Friends or family attending the college.
  • Atmosphere.
  • Size of the college community.
  • Strong ethos committed to study.
  • College facilities, computers, study rooms, Internet access, telephone access, dining, laundry and cleaning.
  • College safety and security and staff availability.
  • Parking and access to public transport.
  • Type of rooms, meals, washing facilities etc.
  • Both privacy and community at the college.

Start your enquiry early. Selecting a college will be one of the most important decisions in your life. You want to give yourself enough time to plan ahead. By all means, please contact us at St George's College either via phone: (08) 9449 5555 or e-mail: admin@stgeorgescollege.com.au

"It's good to be able to share your uni experiences not only with people who, like you, are embarking on their uni career, but also with those who have a bit of experience and can offer guidance and advice. I have lots of fond memories of my time at St George's College and would strongly encourage anybody who is thinking of staying here to do so. It's an experience too good to miss."
