5.1 RESIDENTS' ROOMS

5.1.1 Except in an emergency or with the authority of the Warden or Sub-Warden no person may enter a residents' room without the permission from or invitation from that resident.

5.1.2 Immediately on entering residence, each member shall complete a take-over inventory of his or her room using the form provided.

5.1.3 Residents shall keep their rooms tidy and in accordance with normal standards of hygiene.

5.1.4 A resident is not permitted to have another person residing in that resident's room.

5.1.5 Structural alterations to rooms, painting or otherwise affixing objects to walls and doors of rooms and the moving of furniture from one room to another are not permitted.

5.1.6 Apart from the use of electric kettles to boil water, the cooking of food in rooms is not permitted.

5.1.7 Bed linen shall be used as such and on the bed provided.

5.1.8 The only heaters permitted in rooms are those issued by the College. Heaters must not be left on when the room is unoccupied.

5.1.9 Any damage to or theft from a room must be reported to the College Office immediately by the resident of that room.

5.1.10 The College accepts no responsibility for the loss of or damage to a resident's property.

5.1.11 The use of candles, incense or any other device with a naked flame is not permitted.

5.1.12 Smoking in residents' rooms is not permitted.

5.2 COMMUNAL ROOMS

5.2.1 A communal room is defined as any room in the College other than the rooms of residents.

5.2.2 Smoking is not permitted in any communal room or in the College grounds.

5.2.3 The consumption of alcoholic beverages is not permitted in any communal room or in the College grounds except where the Warden permits it and under conditions imposed by the Warden.

5.2.4 The consumption of food and beverages in the Library is not permitted.

5.2.5 No one is permitted to enter or remain in the Dining Hall without footwear and fully clothed. In this context a sleeveless singlet is not deemed sufficient to clothe fully the upper body.

5.2.6
(a) No furnishings, paintings or other equipment of a communal room may be removed without the permission of the Warden or Sub-Warden.

(b) Except on the authority of the Warden no food (apart from two pieces of fruit), beverage, crockery or cutlery may be taken from the Dining Hall.

(c) Newspapers may not be removed from the Junior or Senior Common Room before 10.00pm.

5.2.7 No person other than a senior member may use the Senior Common Room except by the invitation of a senior member.

5.2.8 The Georgian Room and the South Wing Common Room may only be used when booked at the College office.

5.2.9 Any damage to or loss from a communal room must be reported promptly to the College Office.

5.2.10 Except for normal College meals no function shall be permitted in the Dining Hall involving more than one hundred and twenty persons without the prior approval of the Warden.

5.2.11 The High Table in the Dining Hall may only be used with the prior permission of the Warden.

5.3 MEALS

5.3.1 Except as otherwise provided in these rules and as permitted from time to time by the Warden meals are only available in the Dining Hall between the stipulated times. These times are posted in the Servery.

5.3.2 Each person shall return all used crockery and cutlery to the Servery at the conclusion of that person's meal except that at formal dinners the servery staff will clear the tables.

5.3.3 Except at weekends cut lunches are provided to residents who are unable to be at lunch in the Dining Hall subject to the following conditions:-

(a) The appropriate order form available in the Servery or Dining Hall must be filled in at least one day before the cut lunch is required.

(b) Any change to or cancellation of the cut lunch order must be notified promptly to the servery staff.

5.3.4 Except at weekends late evening meals are provided subject to the following conditions:-

(a) The appropriate order form available in the Servery or Dining Hall must be filled in by 3.00pm on the day on which the late evening meal is required.

(b) Late evening meals must be taken between the times stipulated for such meals.

(c) When there is a formal dinner no late evening meals are provided.

5.3.5
(a) A guest may take a meal in the Dining Hall provided the guest or host pays for that meal.

(b) The cost of meals for guests is stated in the Fee Schedule and payment may be made at the Servery when the meal is being purchased or by the purchase of a meal voucher from the College Office prior to the meal.

(c) If the meal for a guest is not paid for the host will be charged for the cost of the meal and will also be liable to a penalty.

(d) All persons in the dining room during meal times will have paid for a meal whether guest, visitor or resident.

5.3.6 No guest may be in or entertained in the Dining Hall at meal times unless that person is a guest of the Warden or is taking a meal as provided for in 5.3.5.

5.4 GROUNDS AND GARDENS

5.4.1 The picking of any flowers or any part of a tree or shrub in the College grounds is prohibited without the prior permission of the Warden or Sub-Warden.

5.4.2 Walking or running across the main quadrangle lawns is not permitted.

5.4.3
(a) The playing of ball games is restricted to the squash court, the tennis half-court and to the North Wing quadrangle.

(b) From Monday to Friday inclusive ball games other than squash and tennis may be played between 12.30pm and 2.00pm and between 5.00pm and 7.00pm only.

(c) On Saturday and Sunday games may be played between 9.00am and 7.00pm only.

5.5 PERSONAL BEHAVIOUR

5.5.1 Excessive noise is forbidden and noise of any kind must be such as does not disturb other residents or guests. A request to reduce a resident's noise level must be complied with immediately and to the satisfaction of the person making the request.
5.5.2 Any behaviour by a resident which endangers the safety of another resident or guest, constitutes a threat to another resident or disturbs the good order and environment of the College is forbidden.

5.5.3 If the behaviour of a resident brings or contributes towards bringing the College into contempt or disrepute that resident shall be liable to a penalty as provided in Section 7.1.

5.5.4
(a) Use or possession of illegal drugs will result in the immediate termination of a residents contract. Equipment associated with or indicative of drug use in a residents possession will be deemed to constitute residents drug use.

(b) Drinking of Alcoholic beverages or smoking is not permitted. See Sections 5.2.2 and 5.2.3.

(c) Any form of drinking games is not permitted.

(d) Excessive drinking or binge drinking will not be tolerated.

(e) Underage residents are not permitted to drink.

(f) Behaviour that is deemed to be racist, associated with sexual harassment, intimidation, bullying or discriminatory will not be tolerated.
